The Olympus PEN Lite E-PL3
Probably the most important feature of an underwatercamera is the autofocus performance. Especially because underwater lighting conditions are much more difficult for the AF system compared to normal land situations. The 3rd generation PEN's autofocussystemen has changed radically. It's much, much faster than the E-PL2 and E-PL1 systems.  Even in darker conditions it performs extremely fast and accurate.
The E-PL3 comes with a small strobe (Olympus FL-LM1) that can easily be attached to the camera shoe.

Just like the camera, the housing is packaed with new features.
The shortened lensport has a 67mm threaded mount making it possible to attach both macro and wide angle converter lenses on the outside of the housing!  The Inon UWL-H100 M67 wide angle lens provides good wide angle shots without any vignet underwater. The well known macro lenses work great as well. This provides maximum flexibility to the underwaterphotographer. Now it's possible to shoot macro, fish-portraits and wide angle, all in 1 dive.

4 target lights are positioned around the lensport. Though the amount of light is limited, it's a handy feature during nightdives, giving the camera enough light to focus accurately. 

Because of the transparant part in front of the camera strobe, it's now possible to use the camera strobe for lighting the subject. With the supplied diffuser, well exposed photos can be made on distances up to aprox. 50cm. For better results, especially for  macro and wide angle shots, one or two external strobes are strongly recommended. The same is true for murky water or water that contains lots of particles

Though the housing is smaller that the previous model, the depth rating has been increased to 45 meters.
